I'm originally from Northern California. I've always been involved with the arts in one way or another (painting, drawing and music). I went to the Santa Rosa Junior College, studying art history and communications (film and video production). From there I went to the Academy of Art College in San Francisco where I met some great people and learned the art of filmmaking. The film department was still brand new then, so I was one of about 100 students in the department. I also worked there, so I had access to just about anything at any time. During my three years at AAC, I directed six short films, ten music videos and shot and edited countless projects for other students. After graduation, I started up a production company with four other AAC students. We spent the following seven years producing and directing music videos, commercials, short films and corporate videos. Eventually, we decided to concentrate on creative ventures individually, so, with three videos and a spec ad on my demo reel, I went to L.A. and literally pounded the pavement. I hiked around Hollywood, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills and Culver City, handing out my demo reels, meeting reps and executive producers. I got signed (a few times) and we moved to LA for three years. But it wasn't for us. After being tricked by one failing production company after another, we moved BACK up north, where work is flowing, the air is clean and the temperatures are mild. WE LOVE IT HERE. But LA is still cool, in it's own way. I guess. BUT NOR-CAL RULES. |
